| Well, it's that time. Sleepless in Houston. It's definitely not for the same reasons as Sleepless in Seattle. It's that time where God gets you ready for a newborn so you are up at crazy times in the night. I bet Becca and Kasey might be awake feeding their babies. Who knows! Anyway, I was awake from 3:15 am to 6 am Saturday morning and I just knew that I would sleep through the night tonight but I've been up since 4 am. Yuck! It's crazy b/c I don't feel bad. I'm just awake. I've gotten a few things done for work which is good. Now, I'm blogging which is good b/c I don't do it enough. I just hate that everyone has to read about my insomnia. There's nothing exciting about that.
I had a doctor appointment on Friday and everything was good. I actually lost 1 pound which I was excited b/c I had a couple of visits where I had gained significantly and I was getting nervous that I'm going to weigh 200 pounds. Not really but I've thought about it. My doctor wasn't concerned though. Anyway, everything else is fine and the baby is growing. Still on target for Monday, March 10 at 8:45 am. We found out that we will need to leave the house at 5 or 5:30 am to get to the hospital by 6:45 am in Houston traffic. I won't sleep a wink that night. I never do or I didn't with Riley Kate even with a sleep aid. Getting excited! Riley Kate moved into her big girl bed last weekend and is doing beautifully. Naptime is a challenge but she is getting the hang of it. We are all excited for this nameless baby girl to get here. We are still trying to decide between Reagan Leigh and Shelby Leigh. Any votes?
We have a contract on our old house. Yes, we are the idiots who are making 2 house payments. We are chalking it up to the mistake of our early 30s. We will never star in this movie again no matter what kindof deal it is. Anyway, we have a contract which is awesome but the inspection came back horrible. Apparently, there are things on there that weren't on our inspection report we had done 1.5 years ago which is frustrating like rusty pipes. Yikes! We haven't heard back from the buyers as to what they want us to fix and it's been several days which makes us nervous that they are getting ready to walk. They have 10 days and it's close to being up so they have to tell us something soon. Trying to rest in God's promises in that He will provide for us and cares for us. Struggling! I believe it and know it but scared. Obviously, I still have a lot of growth to experience.
Okay, getting tired and have to be up in 1.5 hours for church so I better go. Love to all! Miss all of my Birmingham friends. Sarah Pardue, it was good seeing you for the short time last weekend. Callie, thanks for making time to visit us while you were in Houston. Congrats to Lisa and Brian on their marriage!
| | Currently Watching Jerry Maguire By Tom Cruise, Cuba Gooding Jr., Rene Zellweger, Kelly Preston, Jerry O'Connell see related | I went to the doctor on Thursday and he scheduled my c-section for Monday, March 10 at 8:45 am and I have to be there at 6:45 am. Traffic is so bad in Houston and we are going near downtown so I'm not sure what time we will have to leave. I told Donald that we should just get a hotel room near the hospital so we don't have so far to go. We are very excited! I've hit that point where I'm realizing that we're having a baby in 9 weeks and there is a lot to do before then. It will all get done but it just seems overwhelming right now. In some ways, 9 weeks is a long time and in others it's not.
Still haven't totally decided on a name. Donald is leaning more towards Shelby Leigh and I'm just indifferent. I like them both but don't have a strong preference to either one. We'll see.
Donald took Cole to Monster Jam tonight. If you don't know what that is, it's large trucks that race and do freestyle stunts like jumping cars, etc. It's really loud and one of the big names is Grave Digger. I just received a phone call from Donald and they are having a blast. We weren't sure if Cole would think it was too loud but apparently he is loving it. I'm sure it helped that I went to Gander Mountain and bought the ear sets that you wear at shooting ranges. I'm wishing Donald had a camera. Cole got a Grave Digger shirt so I'll try and get a pic of him and post it.
Riley Kate and I popped popcorn and watched Wedding Planner while they were gone. We never get to do that so it was fun. She is getting so big. So glad that I'm having another baby girl. It's time for another baby. Good thing because I will be having one in 9 weeks.
| I won't even begin to comment on how long it's been since my last post. I've enjoyed reading everyone else's but haven't felt the need to post. I'm hoping this will be short.
We had 4 Christmas Eve services which were all wonderful but we were pooped by the end. Then had to come home and finish wrapping and setting out gifts. I think it was midnight before we finally got in bed. My mind still continued to think of all of the things that I could potentially forget to pack for our trip to Birmingham on Christmas day. Well, we are planning on making it to Hammond, LA and staying the night Christmas night and then making the rest of the trip on Wednesday. The kids are excited about going swimming at the hotel. See, I need to write swimsuits on my list. Hang on while I do that real quick. Okay, I did it. Anyway, Baby #3 (Girl) decided that it was time to have a Christmas Dance Party at 5:30 am this morning and wake me up so we are up doing laundry and chilling on the couch. I'm excited that I will be able to see Cole's face as he walks down the stairs instead of him waking me up as usual.
Only have 11 weeks until the baby girl comes. Still haven't decided on a name. You can vote...Reagan Leigh or Shelby Leigh. We can't decide so we may wait until we see her to see which one she looks like. The other thing that's funny to me is that we have done nothing in her room. I remember with Cole that when we found out he was a boy that very weekend we had his room painted and bedding in place. Poor third child! We don't love her any less but she will be lucky if her room is together by the time she gets here. It will be. I'm too much of a planner. It's just taking me longer this time.
I think that's all I have in me for now. I'm going to grab a quick cup of coffee and go over my list again before the kids get up. Merry Christmas, everyone!
Here a pic of the kids with Santa! Oh, funny moment last night when Donald was telling Riley Kate that she had to go to bed b/c Santa was coming to bring her toys and she said, "He's coming to see me?" Donald excitedly said, "Yes." Her lip poked out and tears filled her eyes and she said, "No, I don't want him to." Finally, we figured out that she was scared he was going to come to her room. Which I was the same way as a child. I was extremely fearful that Santa would come to my room so my parents promised me that he would come down the chimney, leave the presents, and eat his cookies without ever leaving the family room.

| It's another GIRL!!! We are so excited. Donald and I keep looking at each other and saying, "Can you believe we are having another girl?" We are so giddy. Cole is really excited. I was a little nervous b/c he thought it was a boy but he took it well. Riley Kate doesn't really understand but she just goes along with her brother. The ultrasound was perfect. Everything with the baby looked great. Halfway to the end. So hard to believe. Here is a pic. She is lying on her back sucking her thumb. | | |
| All is well in the Butler household. Heard the heartbeat of Baby #3 last week and was very relieved after it took 3 different people to find it. That was a little nerve racking especially since I've had a miscarriage but all went well and everything is fine. I feel like I can finally enjoy this pregnancy without constantly being nervous. 13 weeks now.
Cole loves school and is doing really well. We start homework next month. Yuck! When did they start homework in kindergarten? All I remember doing in kindergarten was playing house, learning how to tie my shoes, and the alphabet. Cole has lost his second bottom tooth. He is getting so big. I actually have to go play "Tooth Fairy" when I get done with this. I won't focus on the fact that the Tooth Fairy had a busy night last night and didn't make it to our house. We are hoping she is coming tonight. How much of a heel did I feel when Cole brought down the zip lock bag with his tooth in it wondering why it was still there. Yikes! That's like it being Christmas and Santa forgetting to come. What?!?
Riley Kate is adjusting to having her brother gone. That's been fun. My days are interesting to say the least trying to keep her busy. Officially, have a lock on the pantry and refrigerator b/c she will get in there and eat everything in sight. I promise we feed her but she loves food. It's crazy! I never thought I would have to put a lock on the frig.
Things with the church are crazy but great! We now have 3 campuses in Houston and a fourth in Cancun coming soon. Still loving it here but hate being so far away from family. God is good though b/c we have lots of people around us who love us and are there for us. Tropical storm heading our way. Hope we don't get flooding. They have already called all emergency people on standby. Still need to sell our house. Our new one is great! Really feels like home. We figured out that this is our 5th move in almost 9 years! We've become pros.
